Next Monday, Michael and I are headed to Croatia! Before Christmas, Michael came home from a basketball fundraiser with a surprise. He had won short-haul AerLingus tickets in the raffle! That guy has great luck winning trips. So, we booked the longest short-haul we could find, to Dubrovnik for the week before Easter. It’s not going to be very warm yet, but we’re hoping for a little of that sunshine that seems to make the city glow.

The above image is from Nathalie’s visit to Dubrovnik, and we’re also bookmarking her romantic spots in Dubrovnik post too! We’re staying in an apartment up in the mountains above the city, and we’re renting a car. I think I’ve convinced Michael that we should kayak, even though he categorically hates kayaking, and we have a trip to a vineyard planned!

Have you been to Dubrovnik? I would love to hear your tips!

Can’t wait to hear how it goes! We’ll be going to Cavtat in July for a wedding so I’ll definitely be looking forward to any tips you may pick up.

We generally didn’t love the food when we went to Dubrovnik a few years ago except for Restaurant Kopun: http://www.restaurantkopun.com/. By far the best place we ate and an amazing atmosphere. It’s just off the beaten track in “downtown” Dubrovnik but not in a crazy tourist part of town. We ate there twice!

We also went sailing with Dubrovnik Sailing. We were so lucky to stumble across it. It’s on the cliff path out of Lapad and is just a tiny desk on the side of the cliffs! It may be a bit hard to find, but head out of Lapad towards the Valamar Resort and you’ll spot it about 5 minutes down on your left. We had a large sailboat with a skipper all to ourselves, unlike many of the tourist-aimed boat rentals out there. It was great. Enjoy!!!

Thank you for the shout out! Hope you guys have a brilliant time 🙂 and, if you get even the slightest whiff of sunshine and sunsets, a kayak trip is SO worth it!

The ‘secret’ bar on Nathalie’s post is so great! We took our drinks and sat on the rocks at sunset! Amazing!

I went, but it’s been nearly 20 years (summer of 1997) — so I doubt I have any good tips. I looooooved it though and had the best time making a really full scrapbook of my time there. It was impossible to take a bad photo. I hope you’re loving it too!

Croatia is on my bucket list and will take notes from your trip, however, we are planning a trip to the Emerald Isle for August 2016! I’ll also be taking notes before our trip there as well!
