Dublin Tip: Murphy’s Ice Cream

May 22, 2012

Last year, I complained a teensy bit about the lack of ice cream options in Dublin. Well, I’ve found the ultimate solution: Murphy’s Ice Cream.

They have amazing flavours like brown bread and honeycomb caramel. Founded in Dingle in 2000, Murphy’s ice cream is all made with milk from special and rare Kerry cows – neat, right?!

I loved mixing and matching flavors – I tried Olive Oil Brownie and Caramel Honeycomb and the combination was delicious! I’m hoping for lots more Murphy’s in my future this summer – hopefully the weather will cooperate!

Olive Oil Brownie and Caramel Honeycomb???? I just got happy tears in my eyes. I’m now thinking about how I can stop in Dublin when I fly out to Scotland…

Oh great! They’re so nice – they let you try lots of flavors before you decide 🙂

Have you tried the Coffee Klatsch dessert from Elephant & Castle? Coffee ice cream, hot fudge, raspberries. It really is oh so good. It’s not completely guilt-free but then again, neither are the chicken wings I have beforehand. But that’s another story! Definitely worth a try if you’re in the Temple Bar area.

I haven’t even been into Elephant and Castle, but it sounds like my kind of place! And any other sweet Dublin tips, send them my way! 🙂

Love Murphy’s! The sea salt ice cream is amazing. You should visit the mothership in Dingle. We took a master class in ice cream hosted by them last year at the Dingle Food Festival.

Oh man, Mike’s going to be in the gaeltacht in July out in Dingle. I’ll have to visit the mothership!

We happened upon a Murphy’s while visiting Killarney last fall. It was quite a treat and made us even more smitten with Ireland than we already were. 🙂
